Note: Over the past four years, I have had the privilege of working on a number of large projects for proprietary and financial organizations where I had to sign numerous non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements. Consequently, I am not able to disclose specific details of my work. However, I am very proud and quite pleased to be able to share the following examples of my Web Development work:

URL: |
globallibrarian.com (site no longer active, replaced with local initiatives in partners' home countries) |
Project Highlights: |
Taking advantage of time zones, this site enabled partners located in Vaughan, England, Australia, and British Columbia to provide a 24-7 reference service. Users were able to ask questions when their home library system was closed, and have their questions answered by Librarians in partner libraries located in other parts of the world while they were open. Created separate login areas for Librarians and administrators to answer and track responses to questions from library users. Developed a searchable database of sample answers to frequently asked questions to help Librarians do their work more efficiently (Note: I developed an update tool to ensure all personally identifying information was removed from each sample question before it was submitted to the database). Vaughan Public Libraries won awards for this innovative reference service that only took me about one month to program. In addition, created a special "Ask a Question" form for children, to address their needs. Also developed work-flows and procedures and training manuals for Librarians to use to ensure a consistent high level of service would be maintained while addressing confidentiality, privacy and security concerns of users. |
